We're encountering a Problem

We went to our first club last night. The problem we are encountering is that couples tend not to want to play with other couples at clubs. The couples there seem to only to play with each other. They may invite a single female to join them. But we're finding it difficult to play with other couples, even when we ask if they would like to join us, or if we make it clear we're open to play with others..........
My partner says he's fine with the idea of me going out as a single female, I"m planning to venture out this week as a single female. It will be interesting to see if I run into the same problem..........
Also we'd like to know if anyone knows any clubs in NYC that have a larger 50's plus crowd.....
