I attended a public high school that required everyone to attend a physical education/gym class three times a week. After class we were all required to shower before moving on to the next class. I guess they didnt want us stinking up our next class. The shower was a large communal one with multiple shower heads along the walls and several tower like showers with 4 shower heads, one on each side of the tower located in the middle of the room. I saw all my (male) classmates naked and they all saw me naked. At that time I was skinny as a rail and endured too many remarks about how skinny I was. No one said anything intentionally hurtful, but the remarks stung anyway. I was very self-conscious and uncomfortable even taking my shirt off let alone getting naked. I bought a weight set and started working out at home. After a while I was barely confident enough to join a regular YMCA type gym. That gym also had a communal shower. I tried to shower there when I could be alone in the shower, which wasnt always possible. Eventually I gained enough muscle so that I was getting compliments instead of stinging remarks about my physique. I then moved on to World Gym, which again had a communal shower, but by now I was perfectly comfortable showering with other people present. I enjoy being outside in warm, sunny weather, and would tan naked in the privacy of my back yard. When I would go swimming, I would occasionally slide out of my swim suit undetected, and swim naked. I guess I was intrigued enough with the idea of seeing what it would be like to attend a nude resort that I finally worked up the courage to try one. I went to a family oriented, clothing optional one, I took my clothes off, put them in the trunk of my car and walked around the resort just checking it out to see what it offered. I went to the pool, sauna, and hot tub, all of which required participants to be naked when using them. All of the people that I met there were, warm, cordial, and friendly. The feeling of total freedom and openness hooked me. I later tried a private nude resort and a gay owned and operated one. I enjoyed all of them. Doing an online search for nudist facilities in my area, I found a naturist club nearby in a private house which has a heated pool, hot tub, and sauna in the basement. I joined and really enjoyed the facility and patrons, especially during the winter months when I could get warm to the core on snowy cold nights. I have a hot tub/spa in my basement and found that some of my friends were comfortable enough to get naked in it. At any rate, that is how I gradually became a nudist. I only regret that I didnt do it sooner.
