I don't know if anyone else has noticed but the Ranger presence is getting a bit oppressive at Gunnison.

First... the Black Skimmers fledged weeks ago so there are no "nesting shore birds", If there really ever where. I'm convinced that the closing of large section of the beach is strictly for the purpose of containing the people who use Gunnison into a smaller area.

Second... They have started posting a ranger vehicle just north of the beach after the life guards leave the beach. He watches everyone until the beach is empty. Better not step outta line! Also they have been posting a police car at the corner of the access road to Gunnison and the main road to make sure that everyone comes to a complete stop there.

Third... When I was there earlier this week they closed the beach for a thunder storm to go by. We all went back to our cars and as they usually do it went by... Afterwards we went back to the beach and they closed it for the rest of the day...

Call me paranoid but I believe that there is an agenda to slowly nudge the nudists out of Gunnison.

I also think that FOG is useless! Instead of flitting around and telling everyone on the beach how GREAT and PEACHY it is to be naked..they should wake up and see that they, along with everyone else there are loosing the freedom they once enjoyed. They should get involved and see what is at the bottom of this harassment and do something about it! Nude Beaches are about being free to be who you are... not being under the constant surveillance of the police...

I've never really done anything to get in trouble at Gunnison, but I've seen the rangers take away an old man in cuffs once for playing with himself as he walked alone on a secluded part of the beach C'mon... Really! I don't think the guy could have gotten hard if he wanted too! If it is that offensive just ask them to stop. I'm sure they will be soooo embarrassed that they will. Lighten up folks!!!!!!!! And tell the cops to lighten up! Jeez
