I just said they were two different kinds of nudist but on reflection it is a very good question. Isn't there an exhibitionist in all of us? We are happy to be seen naked after all.
Apparently others in the group were asked different questions. Maybe they had me down as an exhibitionist after letting them film me urinating naked at the roadside. I must admit I found it a bit erotic, especially as the two girls were naked too.
Most of us nudists are exhibitionists since we not only want to be naked, but we love being seen naked by other nudes and/or clothed people. There most likely are some nudists that don't want to be on display, but they aren't the ones on the nude beaches. I love walking nude on the beach for both the freedom from clothing but also I love being seen naked, showing off my body even though I'm chubby and have a small manhood when not hard. While I would like to always be hard when naked, I love being naked whether hard or soft!

I think, not to sound too simplistic, but, that all nudists are a bit exhibitionist. I think you have to be if you are a nudist. I guess then I query is exhibitionism sexual and I think it can be, but also believe it is not necessarily. I simply love being nude and being seen. It's all good in my humble, naked opinion.

True. But there there are people like me who are more complex. I consider myself to be both a nudist (only) at times AND a full on exhibitionist at other times. It just depends on mood, time, place and company I am with. I've been at nudist parties with sex rooms that I did not venture into as I was not in the mood for that and wanted to keep things purely platonic. Other times I have invited clothed guys over to look at me and jerked off in front of them. Or had people take pics or videos of me. And I love getting on webcam and showing off. So I run the entire gamut from one extreme to the other and everything in between. :)

I think I am both. I'm often naked at home on my own with nobody to see me and rust enjoy the relaxed freedom. But somehow I feel more naked if there is a risk someone can see my - when I step outside unprotected by my four walls. And it is even better when amongst other likeminded people. But I was an exhibitionist when I stripped off in the pub last week. And I enjoyed the banter.
I think an exhibitionist is someone who makes a point of being seen by others while nude. A nudist is someone who is naked in their daily activity but not making a point of standing by an open window for someone to see them.
that states it precisely. it is all a matter of intention. when you go to a nude beach you know you will be seen naked by other. if that is your chief intention, you are being an exhibitionist. if not, you are just being a nudist. and of course, you can be more one or more the other at different times and places.
