Nude hiking
Nude hiking just north of Jerome, AZ at Mescal Trail Head on 89A features a maintained parking area just across the two-lane state highway from the trail. Youll have to pack your clothing etc. across HWY 89A (one lane each way on this mountain road) and undress at the base of the trailhead. Its a 3 mile varying terrain, partially shaded with a mix of a 4x4 trail and a walking trail. There are several overlooks, looking directly down on Jerome and the Verde Valley and a view of Sedonas. red Rocks. Nude hikers should bring along a spa towel or gyn shorts and females a t-shirt or sports bra IN THE EVENT of others approaching. Ive see deer and other non-threatening wildlife. Solo hikers might consider carrying bear spray (I pack a .357 revolver in my belt.) and a lightweight back pack or fanny-pack with a couple bottle of water. Its a good 1-1.5 hour hike and Id recommend hiking shoes. In warmer months, and bug spray is essential. Yavapai County Sheriffs patrol the highway every few hours, but the trailhead entry is pretty rugged and Ive never see them enter the actual trail. Google maps have directions to the trailhead parking, Google Mescal Trailhead, Jerome, AZ for directions.
