One stop you'd for sure want to make is Sun Aura in Indiana. the place has a fascinating history, and a very sexual vibe to it. I haven't been there since before Covid, but I'd imagine it's as good if not better than ever. Make sure you're there long enough to enjoy the weekend with socials each night and plenty of action at the dunes, a short walk from the pool through the woods. Week days there are pleasant....very laid back.

I know a couple that did this. For their honeymoon. I think this is a great idea and I wish I could come along.
Yes, Steinbeck had quite a trip in 1960, the dog's name was Charley and the name of the book was "Travels With Charley." However, during 1957 Jack Kerouac wrote a book about his cross-country travels called: "On The Road". Both books are exceptional!
