spanish beaches
Under dictator Francisco Franco, gay sex and public nudity were prohibited in Spain, as demanded by the Church. After Franco died, these restrictions were cancelled, and nudists were allowed to be naked virtually anywhere. For example, in 2010 I witnessed two young guys fully naked walking along the formerly textile beach near the Old Port of Barcelona. Clothed pedestrians laughed, stopped them and photographed with them. It was a great time. Some restrictions were later re-established. But this is another sad story...
I'm naked a lot in Spain and I agree. There are exceptions as local authorities are now allowed to make by-laws banning nudity. I have heard of two in particular. One is in Barcelona after the council got fed up of nudists stripping off in Las Ramblas (the main shopping street) for photos. The other is a real challenge. Vera Playa is a well known nudist resort and town where we can wander naked anywhere. The beach runs into the next parish. It has banned nudity with heavy penalties. So beware how far you wander down the beach from Vera Playa!
