Kik is shutting down. What messenger do we use now.

Kik announced today that they are shutting down the service. Something to do with legal "wrangling" with the US Securities Commission.
My question is, what messaging app do we use now? They are many to choose from and I'd like us to use the same one.

Its true... theres no real end date as of yet. But skype and whatsapp is pretty good. Tam-tam too

Is this kik shutting down a new thing? I know they were a few months ago but someone else picked them up and kept it goin.

Yes that's right. It's up and running as usual....except it now has an advert banner and you can't do video messaging.
